One of the traditional ways to replace a missing tooth or teeth is with a fixed (non-removable) dental appliance called a bridge.
The most popular fixed bridge consists of porcelain fused to metal. It’s made up of two crowns fitted over two anchoring teeth and is attached to the artificial tooth that replaces the missing tooth.
Other reasons for a fixed bridge include: maintaining facial shape, preventing teeth from moving out of position, restoring chewing and speaking ability, restoring a smile, and upgrading from a removable partial denture.
